Geveltuinbanden binnenstad

Een geveltuin is een tuintje met een diepte van ongeveer een stoeptegel aan de voorzijde van de woning. Ideaal voor woningen die geen voortuin hebben. Als de stoep breed genoeg is, is er ruimte voor een geveltuintje.
Een geveltuintje biedt verrassend veel voordelen. Het fleurt meteen de woning en de straat op. Op hete dagen zorgt het voor verkoeling in de straat en als klimplanten gebruikt worden, zorgen deze ook voor verkoeling van de woning. Met vruchtdragende planten worden vogels aangetrokken, maar ook vlinderlokkende planten zijn een mogelijkheid. Zo wordt een bijdrage geleverd aan de biodiversiteit in de stad.
In Dordrecht komt de gemeente de geveltuin gratis aanleggen, waarna de bewoner zelf voor de beplanting en het onderhoud zorgt. De gemeente gebruikt al jaren de geveltuinbanden met hoekstukken van Struyk Verwo Infra. Die passen namelijk precies binnen de gewipte tegels door de slimme maatvoering!
