Over dit project
Het gebied Schiervelde bevat een evenementenhal, een sporthal en een subtropisch zwembad. Door de bouw van het sportcomplex Sportoase drong een heraanleg van P1 zich op. Stad Roeselare wou van de gelegenheid gebruik maken om de vroegere asfaltvlakte aantrekkelijker en groener te maken. Tegelijk wou men ook maatregelen nemen rond waterhuishouding. Onder de parking ligt voor 1.000 m³ aan buffervolume, met betonbuizen en een buffergracht bij de ingang.
Waar de rijweg van asfalt werd voorzien, zijn de parkeervakken uitgevoerd in Square Cross (30x30x10 cm). Oorspronkelijk ontworpen als hulpstuk voor de Square (60x30x10 cm), is dit een steen met drainageopeningen die in tegenstelling tot klassieke grasbetontegels veel variatie toelaat en waarmee dankzij diverse combinaties meerdere patronen gecreëerd kunnen worden. Bij Parking Schiervelde werd de Square Cross op zich zelf gebruikt. Door de stenen deels in elkaar te haken, ontstaat een stabiel legpatroon met gaten van 10x10 cm.
